FIF is the Agricultural Consutant to the Delta State Government of Nigeria to produce an Agricultural Development Roadmap and provide technical backstop to the twin project implementation - Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture (YETA) and Farmer Support Programme (FSP)

FIF has sponsored the initiative for a major campaign on Right to Food in Nigeria and provides the lead to drive the implementation process.

What started as consistent paper presentation at World Food Day events since 2007, followed by communications with public authorities has now blossomed into a major project with an initial support from OXFAM Novib, in collaboration with coalition of willing civil society organizations under the auspicies of Voices of Food Security, also an OXFAM-supported project in Nigeria.

DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN AND DOMESTICATION OF CEDAW IN RIVERS STATE

In 2007, at the instance of UNDP, FIF mounted a campagn to domesticate CEDAW in Rivers State, Nigeria.

The components involved baseline survey, advocacy visits, stakeholders' workshops and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).

The following aspects of women's life were covered:

  • FEMALE DISINHERITANCE
  • HARMFUL TRADITIONAL PRACTICES
  • SOCIAL INSTITUTIONS

Establishment of Fertilizer Regulatory System for Nigeria

Popular mobilization for the

FIF implemented a policy advocacy event for the establishment of a fertilizer regulatory system in Nigeria, Abeokuta, Ogun State 2006; the popular mobilization of members of the Agri-Input Dealers Associations took place during the meeting of the National Council on Agriculture (NCA), which led to insertion of a special clause to that effect in the National Fertilizer Policy for Nigeria, subsequently articulated.;
