FIF is manifest to facilitate improved performance of farm enterprises and an upgrade in the use infrastructures based on mobilization and empowerment of the farming populace and other rural poor to initiate, formulate and execute viable sustainable policies, programs and projects.
The emergence of FIF is predicated upon the changes in approaches to development with emphasis on participation, sustainability and democratic process.
FIF was established in January 1999 at the department of Agricultural Economics, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. FIF was formally registered with the Corporate affairs Commission on 12th April, 2001
