The mission field of FIF covers three mandate domains of professional activities regarding the role of government and private sector in agriculture and rural development:

• Intervention policies – Commodity value chains (production, storage, processing, marketing, consumption); Subsidy administration (price support; strategic reserves; food aid);

• Regulatory policies – Farm inputs (Fertilizer, seed, agrochemicals); Farm outputs (quality assurance; market sharp practices; etc.)

• Infrastructure policies - market infrastructure; knowledge infrastructure; financial infrastructure, information infastructure, etc
